Explosions, flashes of light, loud noises and general chaos were still echoing in my head when I went to bed. It was like a return trip to the 60's (or 70's, 80's and 90's for that matter). I've learned to value serenity in my old age. You have my sympathy, sweetheart.Saint Holidayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01531081133769195666noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1972912984919271871.post-85883342849354502192007-06-04T03:54:00.000-07:002007-06-04T03:54:00.000-07:00The speech was very apt. We were just discussing this very same thing in my CARE group last week. We were talking about how when we're drowned with all of the noise that is so common in our society, we often times can't hear what God would have us hear. We ended with a 20 minute time of silence. It made many people uncomfortable to be in complete silence.

There was this interesting quote from a man who films nature films. He said back in the 60's it took some 500 hours of filming to get 1 hour of natural silence. Now it takes 20,000 hours to get that same 1 hour of silence. That says a lot about the world we live in now.Hannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07715772371822293682noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1972912984919271871.post-78991059301363858682007-05-27T19:11:00.000-07:002007-05-27T19:11:00.000-07:00Beautifully written, darling. How many of us women compose massive speeches and worry about the big talk? I know I do! I bet half the time all I need to do is ask! Good luck getting him back in bed. I know I can't sleep unless my honey's next to me.Annette Lyonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12493583432919249814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1972912984919271871.post-39524829142552321392007-05-26T09:53:00.000-07:002007-05-26T09:53:00.000-07:00You should hang out here -- it's silent all the ti...You should hang out here -- it's silent all the time except when I catch a little CNN with breakfast or persuade David to watch a movie with me, perhaps twice a month. The other end of the spectrum, I guess. I'd best like an atmosphere somewhere between a monastery and a carnival. Seems a reasonable target.

This is okay, though ... we talk a lot and the lack of other noise gives me creative space when we're 'not' talking, but there are one or two tv shows I might like to watch without having to watch them alone.

But we're a work in progress, and so are you. A little crafting here, a little fine-tuning there, some from Column A, some from Column B ... you know.YogaNanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03578904073378923196noreply@blogger.com
