As the Dew

A little verse came into my mind the other night, the words just placed there, in answer to a prayer. I quickly wrote it down in the notebook I keep by my bed. It's been a gentle nudge in the right direction.

Speak sweetly, lips.
Remind the tongue
that faults not seen
are allies won.
Seems obvious enough, but using my words to be uplifting, encouraging, and edifying can be a struggle for me. I'm so grateful for those who can see through my faults to my intentions, and know that my heart is a seedbed of goodness, and I'm trying to keep it weeded!

  1. I love this! I really struggle with being too negative and critical and I can see my children picking up the same habit. It's so hard because my tongue sometimes has a mind of its own. One of my goals this year is to have a softer tone and kinder thoughts.

  3. Jenna, dearest,
    a poet, too!
    I never knew
    this side of you.

It's about time you stopped posting pictures of your old, decaying dad.

    Love you!

  4. That is beautiful, and so very timely for me. I was editing someones work and they were talking about their impressions of their parents--not good ones--the parents had never done anything horrible, they just didn't create an air of love and acceptance. I found myself squirming in my seat and was forced to ponder the impressions I make on my kids. This verse fits that to a T. Hope you don't mind that I copied and printed it, with credit to Jenna at Cranberry Corner. Beautiful

  6. That is an awesome verse. What a talent you have and what a great reminder. I've been coming face to face with the fact that I'm really a very judgmental person -- and I'm working on it, but my tendency is so strong. Your words are so true and so to the point.
