On a Personal Note

I have all kinds of clever, raw, uncensored posts battling it out in my brain. I have a filter that I run them all through that goes like this:

"What will he/she think of me/him after he/she reads it?"
"Do I really want to put it all out there in cyberspace for the masses?"
"Maybe someone else could be helped by my honest expression."
"Do I want so-and-so to know this about me?"
"Will I regret it later on?"

The thing is, it's Christmas. And I'll be darned if some Scrooge is going to put a damper on my favorite time of the year. Christmas is no time for major emotional decisions. Christmas is no time for catastrophe. Christmas is no time for closed hearts and hardened feelings.

Christmas is a time for miracles. (I'm always open to a Christmas miracle.)

Christmas is a time for peace on earth, darn it, so stay out of my way and let me do Christmas. There's always 2009 to deal with other issues, if need be.

Anyway, that's my decision for now. I am my mother's daughter, and no one is going to mess up my Christmas. Rather than dwell on the drama, I choose to decorate. And sing. And bake. And be happy.

Oh, what a difference Christmas makes.

How does it feel to have a spaz for a sister? Don't you love it? Well, I love you and I love your holiday spirit. I'll bet your house smells like apple cinnamon. It does in my mind..shhh..don't ruin it for me.

I love that attitdue, hun! Just brilliant. I have some drama in my life I'm choosing not to poke at for fear it will explode. It can wait till next year.

I think the same things about some of the stuff I wanna post. Sometimes I delicately word it, sometimes I skip it all together, and sometimes I put it on my secret blog. Makes me feel better.

But Christmas has a way of making a LOT of things not so important. I love that you're embracing the Spirit of the season. And decking the halls!

I love it. It reminds me of "When Queens Ride By," which I've just re-read and about which I will be posting soon.

Go ahead, Jenna. You can write what you really think about me. I'll get over it in time. I know I've been a rotten failure of a dad, and I don't deserve that majestic title. I think I'll just go off somewhere and continue my tragic decline, unless I can find Mr. Peabody and his Wayback Machine. Then I can make everything right. I love you.

Love,
Dadly DoWrite

I see you've adopted a young bear? :o)

The tree is beautiful, the decorations familiar, and I just know there's music in the background. Don't let anybody steal the wind from your sails -- and watch yourself when the season is over, too, my dear.

Good idea! I'm all for that. Now if only all the drama was content to take a back seat ...

I love your tree.
