Jewelry for your Teeth!

See? Now why don't they market braces that way? It could change the stigma! Anyway, that's what I thought as I watched Lyns get her braces applied this morning. "They're so pretty!" I said. "Like jewelry for your teeth!"

She's been so excited for this for years, having grown up self-conscious about her teeth, and thus, her smile. Finally the day has come! She chewed gum right up until we walked into the office, and after spitting it out she said, "Well, the next time I get to chew gum I'll be old enough to date!"

Ummmm...yikes. When you put it that way...

Only the top braces were put on today, with the lower teeth getting bejeweled in 10 weeks. I think she looks beautiful, and even more grown up, ironically. And so, it begins.

That little woman just gets prettier and prettier EVERY TIME I see her! I can still see the little toddler who ran around singing the alphabet..but holy cow, she's just so gorgeous! Deffy a VanSciver girl! I'm stoked she got her braces! Yay! Give her hugs from me, please!

Love you!

We'll be going down that road in a year or two . . . although do you have any suggestions for making braces cool for a boy? Doubt "jewelry for the teeth" would appeal to my son. :)

Aww...She IS Beautiful! And how exciting for her! I was just talking to Rylie the other day about braces, but for sure, we have a couple more years to go...I truly can't wait. I will live vicariously through Rylie, since I never got to have them and always wanted them so badly. And as much as I say I'm going to get them when she does? I don't know that we'll have the money for both.

I have bad news. You can totally chew Trident gum with braces. I chewed it nearly everyday of the year I had mine on.

It is amazing how much braces grow kids up. I'm not sure I want to go through that. I'm sure I will though. She really is beautiful!
